Welcome to Uig Sands Restaurant, Isle of Lewis

We have now closed our doors for 2021 and look forward to seeing you all in 2022. A big thank you from the whole team here to everyone who has supported us over the last couple of years. We are busy planning exciting menus for 2022 and aiming to open at some point in March. We don’t expect to open our bookings until February. Depending on the time of year and availability we will also be taking bookings for larger events, weddings and parties, please get in touch for details. Exclusive use of the restaurant space for up to 40 people starts at £2,500 per day.

 

We decided to build a restaurant in Uig, Isle of Lewis in September 2016 after conducting a survey to gauge local opinion. We are so grateful to LEADER and HIE for their financial help, support and guidance. Without these grants and the help of our bank loans we could not have built the restaurant. After a lot of work, such as creating a 450yd track across the land, building finally started in May 2018.

The restaurant is a modern design by Dualchas Architects and has large windows spanning one wall to make the most of the view. O’Mac Construction completed the build to a tight time-frame and without fault.
The restaurant will seat up to 40.
The restaurant has a focus on fresh and local produce with an emphasis on local seafood.
One of our principal aims was to create jobs locally and also help to serve the increasing tourist trade.
Seumas Macdonald, who lives locally in Aird Uig, is head chef.
We are delighted to welcome Kenny MacKay from Carloway, to the team who will be supporting Seumas and also assisting in the management of the restaurant.
